Design Intention: I intended to create an open and collaborative work environment by blurring the boundaries of programs together to spark creativity and allow users to bounce ideas off of each other.
Architects: Hiles Claire
Status: Concept
Location: Downtown of Omaha, Nebraska
Typology: Co-Working Office
I intended to create a space inspired by what makes Omaha, Nebraska unique through materiality by selecting colors that honor the two biggest universities there, those being Creighton University and the University of Nebraska – Omaha.
Claire Hiles
Claire Hiles is a 4th year Interior Design Student in the College of Architecture at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in Lincoln, Nebraska. She did an internship in Elkhorn,
Nebraska at a small residential firm in the summer of 2018 to get a feel for the residential side of interior design since her college studios focus mainly on commercial interior design. She will be starting her last semester of school in January 2018 and hopes to work in a commercial firm once she graduates.
The CO was a project Hiles worked on during her second year of her university’s interior design program. It was designed to be a co-working office for business entrepreneurs and makers to use hourly instead of renting out an office building space. It is based off of a co-working office that exists currently in Jacksonville, Tennessee called ‘The CO’. This project is an adaptation of The CO in Tennessee brought to Omaha, Nebraska’s downtown area called The Old Market.
