RTF Awards Jury Panel
Our internationally influential jury panel is comprised of established scholars, prominent press members, creative design professionals and experienced entrepreneurs who devoted great care and attention to details while voting each entry. Some of the Comments of previous jury members are as follows:
“I am impressed by the diverse entries from around the world and the quality of design regardless of project budget. Each winning entry does a fantastic job responding to site constrains, light, climate and culture. Notably, the high percentage of works that fall under adaptive reuse and their sensitivity to sustainability and resiliency should be celebrated.”
– Angela Lee | Principal and regional director, Asia Pacific | HKS
“These projects demonstrate how design can make a positive impact on communities around the world. Each geographic place needs architects dedicated to understanding the challenges and opportunities latent in the physical world around them. The best of these designs tapped into this significant understanding of place and transformed the places to better connect, stimulate, and challenge the people around them.”
– Sven Shockey | Vice President | Design Director | SmithGroup
“Generally, this year’s design entries for Urban Design (conceptual), Institutional Buildings (built) and Public Buildings (built) were quite commendable to err on the side towards an understanding to each of the environmental context situated and some bears more thoughtful humanity design than others. Future design and innovation continue to embrace in materiality and cultural expressions and architectural types. Yet, as much we would like to see more future visions and designing pathways to rethink our future operating in the epoch of Anthropocene.”
– Chiu Kuo Wei | Director, M.Arch.II, AAD Program. Tunghai Architecture Graduate School
“It was a pleasure reviewing the award submittals. The great variation in context, approach and implementation of the submittals was enlightening. The projects that rise to the top are the ones that take a strong concept and flush out the architecture in a meaningful way to bring those thoughts to reality. I was inspired by the general sense that community engagement played a strong role in the planning and development of these projects. Likewise, the global impact of our built environment was identified as a challenge with these projects at a very high level. It was very interesting to see the varied responses to addressing these challenges.”
– Paul Ubranek | Vice President | Design Director | SmithGroup
