Scandinavian House by Kunal Barve

The site was an old ART DECO bungalow in chembur (mumbai), we had to retain the existing part of the architecture design and add an extension to it ,this extension is added in such a way that the old and new just doesnt exist (the new extension blends seamlessly into the old)
The interiors of the house is inspired from hygge – Danish word


The brief was to have a house that was warm, inviting, minimal, where you have gatherings that feel more relaxed and gives a laid back feel. simplicity,minimalism and subdued elegance are its design characteristics.
White walls add to this Scandinavian concept a crisp &clean look. Colors are used in small bursts with Mid-century chairs that add a modern feel and brings vibrancy into this home. colors and wall art strike a perfect balance between comfort & chic factor.

De-cluttered & Crisp design lines were enhanced by the right upholstery & light fixture from Flos, B.Lux, Louis Poulsen, Marset & some bespoke to create a modern statement.


This house thus is a reflection of the Scandinavian flair that is easy ,uncomplicated aesthetic that is derived by combination of several design formations thus creating a layered space that is cozy,warm &inviting.
