Mass Transformation
The design of the building’s extension is inspired by the iconic and endemic animal anatomy of Flores, the Komodo, which in the existing design is utilized as a metaphorical architectural approach at Komodo Airport.

The improvements in the terminal extension building design combine the metaphor of the Komodo’s anatomy with touches of traditional architectural elements from the Waerebo traditional houses, applied to both the landside and airside facades of the building.
This results in a dynamic form with opening and closing curves, forming a cohesive unit from the main building roof to the curbside area.
Tropical and Futuristic Vision
As an airport located in the equatorial climate, the design of Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo will provide a sensation of warm and friendly tropical climate through the continuous implementation of landscaping from the outside into the building and the incorporation of natural elements within the interior of the building.
The sustainability of an airport in the future demands that the design of this building embodies a contemporary sense and vision. It is infused with sustainability of materials, spatial flexibility, and the potential for system digitization, all of which are crucial aspects in the design.
