Leading scientists suggest that the Earth has entered the anthropocentric era, where our activity as humans has primary influence over the Earth’s ecosystem. Our output of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere is causing global temperatures to rise, thus creating a rapidly changing climate. As the Earth’s largest glaciers melt and oceanic water expands, our coastal cities are faced with the challenge of dealing with the resulting rise of current sea levels.

Infra-LINK explores ideas about a method of subtractive urbanism where coastal cities push for an extreme integration of water into the built fabric. Via a layering of infrastructural strategies, the city transforms into a pliable organism where adaptation becomes a part of everyday life. Local energy harvesting, ecological restoration, and public amenity become productive networks that embody this optimistic urbanism.
