In the next few years, ITMO University plans to build a large new campus, ITMO Highpark, located 17 kilometers south of St. Petersburg. The campus is to become the center of the yet unbuilt satellite city Uzhny and so far the biggest innovation center in St. Petersburg.

The priority spheres of development for ITMO University are information and communication technologies, photonics, robotics, quantum communications, urban science, translational medicine, scientific

At the same time, the existing format and infrastructure of ITMO University do not allow it to effectively interact with the world’s leading.

The new campus, ITMO Highpark, will constitute a new chapter in the development of ITMO – one which will allow the university to extend into new areas of knowledge at the same time as creating opportunities for the further development of those that already exist. An integral aspect of this is the University’s ambition to coordinate its educational and scientific activities with companies engaged in high-tech industries.

ITMO by RTDA - Sheet3The first part is an education zone or campus, where education, administrative, research buildings, conference halls for events, students’ and academic staff residential accommodation, public spaces, and social and public infrastructure facilities are located. This is where 60% of all Masters Student (3,300 people) and 40% of all PhD students (400 people) will be based.ITMO by RTDA - Sheet4

The second part is the Innovation Centre (40 ha), which includes a Business Incubator Centre, the Urban Centre and the Advanced Production Zone. The Advanced Production Zone will be built up on serviced plots by resident companies separately, but in accordance with rules and recommendations set out by ITMO University.
