The client consulted us for the renovations and the interior design and styling of her property. The brief was to design the house in a contemporary style, with a minimalist approach. The color scheme was to be kept neutral with muted hues and the use of plants, flowers and accessories was to be kept to the bare minimum.
The design process was divided into several phases. The first phase involved the actual design itself. We presented the client with furniture layout plans, concept boards, elevations, ceiling plans, color and texture selections, fit-out drawings and renders. When the initial plans were in place, we consulted with a contracting company to conceptuate the remodeling of the designated spaces, namely the bathrooms, the ceilings, the flooring and the closure of the open staircase and the kitchen service window. The ceiling design consisted of the construction of gypsum panels that would make way for cove lighting, recessed anti-glare spotlights and ceiling mounted track lights.
The design and final orders of the bespoke furniture with a local furniture company and this was followed by the precision drawings, design and material selection for the built-ins with the joinery company. The fabrics for the window treatments were also ordered at this point. The artists were commissioned for the different curated pieces of art around the house at this stage.
We worked around a strict timeline and as the contractor work was accomplished, the joinery team started with the installations. We worked with a lot of attention to detail and most of the work completed was thoroughly checked and cross-checked for the snagging.
We then completed the project with the final placements of furniture pieces, art installations, area rug placements and some stand out accessories such as custom designed mirrors. The bathrooms were completed with hotel-style bath linen and accessories. The beds were styled with exquisite bedlinen to suit the client’s needs.
This home was shortlisted for best 50 homes in Dubai from thousands of entries and it also won the award for the best styled home.
