The late Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid only ever designed one residential project – and it’s finally been completed.
Architects: Zaha Hadid
Location: Russia

Owned by Real Estate Developer Vladislav Doronin, Capital Hill Residence is a one-of-a-kind building, located in a forest near Moscow in Russia.

“I always dreamed to work with Zaha Hadid, because to me, she’s an architect in a different league,” says Vladislav in the above video.

For Vladislav, it was important that the design allowed him to feel connected with nature, to be able to see the sky when he wakes up in morning and to feel free, hence the fact that the fourth floor of the home extends 30 m above the rest of the house, resting above the treetops.

“This is a masterpiece, it has Zaha’s signature features of organic intricacy, complexity, of spatial arrangements, a lot of surprises and a lot of craftiness and beauty in the final honing of the shape and forms,” says Patrick Schumacher, Principal Architect at Zaha Hadid Architects, in the clip.

In the end, it may be a beautiful sculpture, says Vladislav, but most importantly, it’s a liveable space.
