Alserkal Avenue By CAAT Studio

The news is the first in a series of announcements to take place throughout the summer in tandem with commissions and events by Alserkal Avenue’s newly established homegrown programme. Today, Alserkal Avenue is a community unlike any other. It is a community of creative visionaries, rising in unison with the patronage and providence of our country’s leaders, who put culture at the core of their worldview. It is a community of creative thought leaders and talents who mark not only this new ground, but also the fabric of the city and country beyond, and the entire cultural landscape of the region. This space is consisted of two major required areas:
1-AiR
2-ASC

Spaces with individual character but in a direct relation. By a detailed study on brief and according to demanded areas for each space we find out that there should be a constructive relation between these 2 spaces, while all requested factors of each space should be provided. Organization of these two spaces next to each other and assigning appropriate space to each one proper to its function is an important priority that needs to be considered in designing and planning of this section. attention should be given to quality of spaces proper to its character and aesthetic parameters while the space standards has applied to each space, this principal couldn’t be achieved only by space dimensions but we also needed to concider   (with) right choice of material and main geometry of each space and etc.Totally we can divide project audiences in two main categories: Artist and visitors And interactions between them can be categorize in 3 below types:
People with artist
Artist with each other
People with each other.

From above interactions the first and second one effect the process of producing artwork directly. So necessarily artist should have control over them. This relation covers a spectrum from a limited visual interaction to a strong direct interaction between artist and audiences. Planning spaces that artist directly communicate with people and can invite people to their studios whenever they want so they can see process of producing an artwork directly is a result of this approach in design. This interaction in some cases limited to a vision from the façade of the project. By considering climatic and regional conditions of the project site and location of it in Middle East a joint of east and west and analyzing typology of houses and urban design of Middle Eastern cities in this we found out that because of special weather situations, urban blocks in this region are very dense, solidarity and Extroverted in residential parts.

These blocks shaped close to each other around a square or city plaza with extrovertist character. Cities that their identity is defined by people lives, paths and functions that exist inside them. By analyzing some examples and extracting format of these cities we discovered they are consisted of three main parts. First part includes central open air space which is a place for social interactions( Meydan ). Second part are spaces with mid-dense urban structure that they have a direct connection to Central public spaces as mentioned above. they are where bilinear interactions take place (bazars, mosque etc.) In the third part (residential) spaces with local functions and dense urban structure formed. They are assigned for personal interactions.

Mahdi Kamboozia born in 1985 in Iran. He established CAAT Studio in 2012 and during these years beside management of the studio he has been working as design and construction team supervisor. We are looking forward to confront the projects with design problems and come up with a solution. Each assignment defines a different story which shows there are varying answers to each task. Some projects allocate to social concerns, some cultural; some focus on relations between users and the projects, others may have a scenario on spaces and their connections or introducing a new usage. CAAT studio studies on future generations, their needs, relations, potentials, and according to each assignment’s usage and aspect, comes up with a solution. The prospects in social relations, defines new connections and expounds new operations; we try to study the potentials carefully, and propose solution to problems. For instance, in some cases, the answer is based on the use of unique and natural material (Mahallat Residential No3), or the right construction technique (Kahrizak Residential No1). Sometimes, it is crucial to create a new space as a new use is defined (Jewelry Retail Office No4); sometimes the contexts of the project elucidate the usage or design. (Installation No5). Despite the scale of the project, concerning the related issues on each task is essential and the same process continues….We have achieved many national and international competitions from our start, below there are some important competitions which we had participated :
