This project exemplifies our firm’s distinctive, holistic approach to the integration of interior design, architecture, and landscape. The home is sculpted into a landscape primarily composed of bedrock, which allows it to harmoniously interface with its surroundings.

This creates a low, site-sensitive profile for the overall composition. By integrating natural elements, we have crafted interior spaces that seamlessly blend with the beauty of the surrounding environment.
The curated palette of materials reflects the natural elements of the site. The home is nestled into the bedrock, incorporating natural stone as a unique interior feature. Cedar and walnut introduce visual warmth, while blackened steel, glass, and polished concrete provide the dramatic spans found throughout the home. Venetian plaster and textiles soften the interior spaces, and the neutral color palette evokes a sense of restfulness and contemplation.
Upon entering the home, guests are welcomed by a dramatic grand pavilion overlooking expansive water views. The openness of the plan is made intimate by nested, individual spaces that feel unique while maintaining a connection to the overall project. The challenge was to create a sense of intimate, interior space without compromising the expansive views or dividing the space. Each area is intentionally designed to frame the surrounding natural beauty, allowing exterior views and light to flow seamlessly into the interior. Greenery covers the low-slung, horizontal roofs, allowing the structure to integrate seamlessly into the landscape.
We believe that the union of interior design, architecture, and landscape is essential to creating great spaces. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding site is key to this union. This integrated design approach expands interior visual space while framing the natural beauty found in nature.
