Surface Modulation by Dipesh Agrawal

During his first year of architecture at APIED, he was introduced with this exercise of basic design-Surface Modulation. Two 3d forms had been chosen randomly i.e. rectangle and L shape.
Architects: Dipesh Agrawal
Location: India

The process involves cutting and extrusion of some part of the surface from the whole. Grids of 1 cm x 1 cm were made on the surfaces.

The technique involves removing the surface in grids to get the perfect combination of light and shadow. surfaces that are formed will be observed after the formation. The above exercise broadens the mind of a 1st year student to visualize the different forms of the building.
