Noe Valley deck By Does Architecture word

This mid-century modern home in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood has a very small back yard that was completely filled with a walled and roofed 70’s-era hot-tub party room. Clearing out the old, unpermitted, and structurally deficient construction, DOES Architecture secured the necessary variance to build a new, larger, more open deck that functions as an extension of the house interior.

A folding wall system by La Cantina Doors now connects the dining room to the back deck, and a smaller but still generous gliding glass door connects the master bedroom to the sun-filled seating area. Surrounding the new deck is a cor-ten steel fence that features a water-jet custom perforated pattern, derived from the temporal and geographic history of the owners. The fence panels are backlit with high-efficacy LED lighting, that produces a magical backdrop for evening entertainment.
