The project is set to dedicate to working towards sustainability in addition to bringing eco-friendly living options to the public’s attention. Many are unaware that imported flowers generate carbon emissions due to the nature of refrigeration and long-haul transportation. To combat this, Tai Kwun In Bloom 2023 has connected with local flower farms aiming to replace imported flowers with locally grown flowers, thus drastically lowering the carbon emissions generated by the market. To further minimise the environmental impact, Tai Kwun is set to lower its installation wastage up to 90%, as most of the festival’s fixtures have been made from up-cycled materials, and over 95% are designed to be reusable.

Instead of being chucked away to landfills after 4 days of setup show, all the furniture was purposedly designed to be transformed into home furniture for local community, local schools and sub-divided flat families. Over 30 pieces of movable shelves were donated to the local community. Instead of creating the set of wastage that normally would go straight to landfills, all the furniture were given second or third lives to be used as furniture again fulfilling bother ways of circularity design.
