Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit 1 by ASCinterior

This hotel renovation represents a transformation that honors Thai culture while offering modern hospitality for international guests. Previously branded as Best Western Premier, the hotel served as a comfortable space for international patients and their families due to its proximity to Bumrungrad International Hospital. As the clientele evolved, the owners decided to rebrand the hotel to Hyatt Place, focusing on integrating elements of Thai art, architecture, and craftsmanship into the design to reflect the soft and welcoming nature of Thai culture.

The design, inspired by the Sukhothai era and traditional Thai architectural forms, showcases the elegance of symmetry. From the reception counter, influenced by temple structures, to the rattan ceiling patterns, each space reflects Thailand’s rich history. Guests may not have the opportunity to explore Bangkok’s cultural sites due to health-related reasons, so the hotel brings that culture to them. The public spaces emphasize a natural palette of greens, light wood tones, and rust oranges, providing a serene and calming atmosphere.

Each area, from the lobby to the restaurant and bathrooms, celebrates Thai heritage through the use of materials like rattan, silk-inspired fabrics, and clay. The open seating arrangement fosters comfort and interaction, essential for guests staying for extended periods due to medical needs. The overall design creates a sense of calm and balance that resonates with the essence of Thai hospitality, making guests feel welcome and at ease.

The restaurant continues this cultural homage, focusing on rattan patterns, symmetry, and craftsmanship that highlights Thai elegance. The buffet counter and seating arrangements ensure that guests can enjoy their dining experience in a space that feels connected to the lobby’s theme, providing seamless transitions across different areas of the hotel.

Incorporating the timeless Thai rattan pattern in the bathroom design further strengthens the theme of cultural continuity. The rust-orange tiles evoke the warm tones of traditional Thai ceramic roof tiles, adding a modern twist to historical elements.
