The 3,725 sf project includes a variety of spaces specifically designed to support the many functions and services provided.  These include an open reception, café and retail area that flexibly supports daily functions as well as larger community gatherings, seminars and events.  There is also a suite of medical spaces including consult, procedure, and IV lounge areas, as well labs and other support spaces.  Finally, there is a functional fitness and gym area.

The Humanaut space is designed to provide a great variety of potential experiences that can be tailored to an individual’s specific journey on a given day.  From very personal medical consultations and procedures to more community-based time in the café.  From a quiet and relaxed treatment in the IV lounge to a fast-paced work-out in the fitness area.  Across all the spaces is a consistent palette and aesthetic that helps to reinforce the interconnection of the components that make up a wholistic approach to health.

Humanaut is exactly the kind of project we love – partnering with a client who is intentionally trying to disrupt an industry and create something entirely new and ownable.  Part of the spirit of Humanaut is celebrating exploration and adventuring beyond the known and familiar.  The design attempts to embody this ethos – challenging the familiar notions of what medical, fitness and community space should look like and giving each user the opportunity to define their own journey and combination of experiences.

Humanaut presented a great opportunity to develop a physical design concept in parallel with the evolution of the overall brand and graphic identities.  Through close collaboration, core elements of the identity which are featured in their print, web, and collateral materials were seamlessly integrated into the interior design in colors, materials, graphic patterns and signage.  Specifically, the subtle curves of the brand logo and mark are echoed throughout the architectural language in the shape of plan elements, door panels and ceiling features.
